If you want to work in an academic institutionresearch institute, college, think tank, or universitywrite a first-class academic cover letter. Be sure to include reference to the specific job, your training and experience, your interest in working for this organization and why you’d be a positive asset. Let the hiring manager know in your academic cover letter how and why you’d be a great asset to the institution. Also let him or her know of any awards or special acknowledgment you’ve received in your academic cover letters. Close with a polite request for a personal interview.
